How I handle things when I fail will determine if that failure becomes a weapon for the enemy to use against me or if it becomes a tool that allows me to strengthen myself in the Lord (1 Samuel 30:6). Will I allow it to become a weapon that the Devil can use to bring me defeat, discouragement, self loathing and ineffectiveness or will I use it as a means to receive grace? Grace that accepts me just as I am and a grace that has the power that refuses to leave me just as I am. The grace the covers my failure also has the power to change me.
I am already a new creation (2 Corinthians 5:17), I am already more than a conqueror (Romans 8:37), I just need the grace to live like it!
I’m not just an ordinary man or woman; I’m a son of the living God (Galatians 3:26). I’m not just a person; I’m an heir of God (Galatians 4:7) and a joint-heir with Jesus Christ (Romans 8:17). I’m not just an old sinner; I’m a new creation in Jesus, my Lord (2 Corinthians 5:17). I’m part of a chosen generation, a royal priesthood, a holy nation (1 Peter 2:9); I’m one of God’s people. I’m not under guilt of condemnation. I refuse discouragement for it is not of God. God is the God of all encouragement. There is therefore now no condemnation for those in Christ Jesus (Romans 8:1).
[Excerpt from Biblical Confessions to Build Your Faith by Larry Tomczak]
Failure is not to be accepted but neither is it to be feared!
When I fail there is forgiveness. Forgiveness from God, from family, from friends and there should be forgiveness from me too! When I fail I repent, I refocus, I restart again without condemnation (Romans 8:1), completely justified … Just-As-If-I’d never sinned!
Accepting forgiveness, receiving grace, rejecting condemnation allows me to start again FREE rather than allowing it to be used as a weapon the devil uses against me!
Isaiah 54:17 (ESV)
No weapon that is fashioned against you shall succeed,
and you shall refute every tongue that rises against you in judgment.
This is the heritage of the servants of the Lord
and their vindication from me, declares the Lord.”
