Back in October 2008 I created a photo video to the track “Fly” by Jason Upton and put it on Video. Amazingly I received and email a little while ago to say it had just past a quarter of a million downloads!
What caused me to come across this tune was a video on You Tube that claimed that during the recording of it an Angel appeared and sang with Jason which was recorded on their equipment. Yea, I was sceptical too … But is has had a massive impact on me as I listened to it.
So here is the initial video I saw that gives and account of the the evening the track “Fly” was recorded.
I have never seen an Angel, but I have a friend who I have known for about 15years who has recently seen angels and I believe that the bible makes it clear that such things can, do and will happen.
So having listened to this story, like me, I am sure your next thought is OK, lets listen to the recording of the prophetic song “Fly” by Jason Upton. Ok here you go.
After I saw this video I purchased the album “Remember” which has the song FLY on it and have been listen to this track. You can hear the harmonies and if only Jason is only one singing then the backing singing are awesome! There is something about this song as you listen to it … an anointing for sure.
You can hear harmonies around the 4 min mark, but all over that are just amazing. I suppose the question is “Do I believe in supernatural events” and the answer I have come to is YES! I have experienced God in tangible ways in worship, I have prayed for people with one leg longer than the other and seen the LEG GROW IN MY HAND! So Angels, why not? The bible tells of them and I have a big God, So yea … I totally believe this story as possible, and take the accounts at face value … I just wish I were there!
I have the privileged of being part of an amazing church, Kings Church Horsham, who not only allow me to preach and to study and prepare, but they also make all of our sermons available for FREE!
I have just added some more Free Audio to my site. If you want to take a look click here.
Kings Church Horsham is a vibrant, energetic and growing Newfrontiers church in the heart of Sussex. Over the summer we have are making several changes and as a result now have a vacancy for a full time youth pastor to join us as part of our staff team.
If you, someone in your church or someone you know would be interested in this position I would invite you to read that attached Job Specification and then email me a C.V. and something about yourself including referees who I could contact. Ideally these would be your church leader and one other character referee.
Kings Church Horsham is a church gathering over 400 people each Sunday which grows week by week. We have a amazing youth group of over 40 young people and great volunteer youth leaders team and whilst I am obviously bias, as the previous youth pastor I do know these kids and they are truly a stunning bunch!
As a church we are strongly committed to not only seeing the youth in the church mature, growing in God and gifting, but also reaching out to the youth in the town. Our youth team is supplemented by “Gap Year Students” who are on the Newfrontier’s Impact training programme which gives us a great resource to go into schools to carry out assemblies, take RE lessons and run Christian unions. In the past we have worked with our friend Lindz West and his band LZ7 (part of what was once the Worldwide Message Tribe) and spent a week in schools and then put on a free concert on the Friday evening where we saw many come to faith – Something I would love to see happen again!
You will see from the Job Specification that we are also committed to our staff team ongoing maturity and education. We will look where appropriate to send the new Youth Pastor on theological training and provide them with a mentor from our senior leadership team.
We would love to fill the post by this September (2010) but recognise that time is short and this may not be possible. We would not want the proposed starting date to be a hindrance to the right candidate as we would prefer to wait and make sure we have the right person rather than to rush into an appointment simply because of an immediate need. So if you are employed and need to give notice, or have some other reason that you would not be available till after September then we fully understand that, so don’t feel that this would prohibit you form making an application.
I will be at Together On A Mission in Brighton and at Newday (including set up and set down) should you or any prospective candidate wish to talk with me.
We are very excited about this appointment and are confident that God has already prepared the heart of the right candidate for this exciting role and trust that as we prayerfully push various doors that the Holy Spirit will bring this opportunity before the right person.
Thank you for your part in that process as you make potential candidates aware of this full time youth pastor position.
The term “Culture of Honour” is one that I have heard used more and more in recent times and the principle of honouring others, particularly those God places near us and around us, is one I think the bible mandates us to do. The obvious one is to “Honour you mother and father”, part of the 10 Commandments in Exodus 20 – The exciting element of honouring your parents is not simply that it is right and respectful, but the the bible goes on to say that “all may go well with you” as a result.
I believe that the principle here is one of me looking to be to giver of honour and not looking to be the recipient. The focus is not on “do I feel honoured in this or that” but am I giving honour as I should.
I love how the book is opened in the Forward by Bill Johnson as he says “… this culture is never built around ‘what I need’. It is built around ‘what I can give. And if I don’t learn to give it to those who deserve it the least, I will continue to live in an environment without honour‘.
It seems that my basic premise, and understanding from scripture, is one that this book, if the forward is anything to go by, is pursuing too … so hopefully it will be a good, stimulating and revelation producing read!
